Welcome to the Town of Brigus. We would like to take a few moments of your time to inform you of the many services, organizations and other activities our historic town has to offer.
Our Town has a Municipal Plan, therefore it is important that you consult with the Town Office before starting any renovations, repairs or placing things on your property, as it may be necessary to obtain a permit. This can be found on the towns website http://www.brigus.net under Town Council-Legislation, Polices & Applications. We can also provide you with information regarding your municipal tax, water/sewer hookups etc. For information regarding your property, please contact the Town Council office located at 15 Water Street or call 709-528-4588.
The Town also offers a weekly bulk garbage pickup which takes place each Tuesday unless otherwise advised. Please be aware that it is important to have your garbage in regular green garbage bags and in a proper garbage container by the early morning or the night before as garbage is collected during the early parts of the morning.
On South Street you will find Canada Post with a full service postal office. The postal worker on duty would be more than happy to help you with any of your further inquiries.
Our Public library, also located on South Street offers free internet access as well as printing and facsimile services.Throughout the year you may also partake in one of their fantastic reading programs.
If you would like to become involved in the community there are many different groups and organizations that would be more then glad to have you on board. There are various seasonal and year-round programs offered such as; the Seniors Healthy Living Club, Riggley Recreation Summer Children's program, Cadet Corps, Volunteer Fire Brigade and Ladies Auxiliary, the local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, Church Organizations, as well as the local Orange Lodge, the Knights of Columbus, etc.
Throughout the year, as a community we like to take advantage of the rare opportunities to come together to celebrate the holidays and togetherness. During the Holiday Season we hold a community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and our Annual Santa Clause Parade. During July we welcome everyone to come and help us celebrate Canada Day.
