July 9 Servant of Two Masters - Beni Malone & Wonderbolt Productions A classic Commedia del’arte piece written by renowned Italian playwright Carlos Goldini and adapted for stage by Beni Malone of Wonderbolt Productions. Audiences will be treated to a tapestry of memorable characters, beautiful costumes, manic comic energy as they whirl at a break neck pace through the ever twisting and twirling plot that is the trademark of the commedia del’arte form. She has crewed on the Effie M. Morrissey, Captain Bob's schooner. Christy has taken the practical techniques of knot tying and raised them to an artform. July 31 400 Storytelling Concert Guest storytellers from around the world and at home will gather at St. George's Heritage Church in neighbouring Brigus. International storytellers, Graham Langley and Jan Andrews will be joined by Newfoundland storyteller Margaret Hitchens for an evening of traditional English folk and fairy tales. Pearl has taught Artsmart programs, and taught at the Anna Templeton Centre. 23rd Annual Blueberry Festival - Schedule for August 12th, 13th, 14th & 15th 2010 > > August 22.The Hooked Mats of Hawthorne Cottage with Margaret Angel Registration is limited to 12 people About Margaret - The traditional hooked mats of outport Newfoundland were a thrifty way to use worn articles of clothing to create practical mats and chair pads. The women indulged their love of beauty by creating designs of flowers, animals, and intricate borders. Margaret Angel, a direct descendant of the Bartlett family, is an experienced mat hooker who has extensive knowledge of the hooked mats at Hawthorne Cottage. You will be able to examine the mats, design and start a small piece reflecting features from the cottage collection and learn some rug hooking techniques.
